HI,

So, after someone rear-ended my car and totaled it, back in early 2014, my dad purchased a new (used) car for me with the insurance money.
I very specifically asked him to purchase something like a Toyota Camry, because the insurance money didn't amount to much (something like $3.5K), and I wanted something relatively trouble-free. But, no... my dad insisted on purchasing a 2000 BMW 528i, from someone over the internet, where he had no way of checking how broken it is in person.
So in the year and a half that I've owned the BMW, I've had problems with:
1. Radiator
2. Oil leaks (MAJOR oil leaks, trust me)
3. Lower tie-rod
4. Lower controller arm
5. Busted pipe to the steering oil
6. Front driver's side window
7. Front passenger's side window
8. Needing to do front driver's side window, AGAIN
9. Throttle control
10. My tires BLOWING UP ON THE FREEWAY - and yes, even my spare was torn up at the time, so it had to be towed
11. And now my hazard lights are lighting up, even while the car is parked and turned off
Now, I fully understand the tires being my responsibility, and something I should have checked before hand. But holy fucking bejeezus. Is this the norm for used BMW's, or what?
I remember seeing a thread here, asking whether it's a good idea or not to purchase a used BMW (and this was actually right around the time that I just purchased my used BMW), and I didn't think it'd be that bad, but my god. It's like everyone says, it's got a great ride - I love the steering and breaking, but I can't see the car as anything other than an absolute piece of shit with the problems I've had.
My experiences are completely turning me off to the prospect of purchasing even a new BMW in the future. It has just completely soured my perspective of BMW's, and at this point, I refuse to think about the possibility of purchasing any BMW in the future.
Yea, I get that this is a used car, and used cars will have their set of problems. But before this, until year 2014, I was driving a 2000 Lexus ES300, which was basically as old as the BMW is now. And it didn't have nearly as many problems. I'm pretty sure in the 10 years or so that I've had the ES300, the amount of repairs I've done on it amounts to about the same number of repairs I've done on the BMW, in a year and a half. So, 10 years on the ES300 = 1.5 years on the BMW. Seriously???
Did I just get really unlucky? Or is this the norm for BMW's?

Any help will be apprecited.

WHEN YOUR LEXUS GETS OLD, IT COULD COME JUST AS MANY PROBLEM AS ANY OTHER CAR. IT'S JUST TO FIX BMW, IT IS MORE COSTLY ON PARTS AND LABOR. AND THEY HAVE PUT SOME MANY THING TO HAVE THE CAR WITH MORE FUN(COMFORT) TO DRIVE.
IF YOU ARE NOT READY TO PAY FOR THE ENJOYMENT, BMW MEANS "BIE MO WO" TO YOU.
