what is the cause of aging population in Hong Kong?
Owing to many people of the younger generation in Hong Kong hesitate on giving birth as the standard of living is very high so a lot of people are reluctant to give birth .And then the death rate in Hong Kong is also quite low, due to the advancement of technology in medical. People would generally be able to live longer than in the past so it cause of aging population in Hong Kong.

Why do China and Hong Kong have an ageing population?
China has the One-Child Policy. The policy would be implemented and carried out very strictly. If you had more than one child, you would have to pay a fine. It leads to elders are more than children. In Hong Kong, the government actually is persuading the citizens to give birth to more children but Hong Kong people are always busy to work and most of the population being educated to at least secondary level. Therefore most of people refuse to have body. Thus, these factors cause aging population in China and Hong Kong.
What is the impact of aging population in Hong Kong?
Now, the percentage of the aged 65 years old people is about 28 percent of the total population in Hong Kong. In future, aging population will more and more serious. Aging population affect the Labor market. Due to the total number of elderly people is on steady increase,it causes lack of Labor force. It influence Hong Kong’s development and economic. Moreover aging population increase the social burden.

Do you think that the Hong Kong’s government carried out the policies is effective?
No,Although government has some policies to face the problem, the problem still existence and not effective. For example, low birth rate. The government encourages birth but the policies do not attract the couple to give birth.

Do you think that aging population will more and more serious in Hong Kong?
Yes,aging population will serious. According to survey, last year Hong Kong has 818,800 senior citizens aged 65 or above 11.9% of the total population, but in 2013, there were 978,000 of the total population jumped to 13.2%. 2023 is expected to rise to 19.4% more, while in 2033, became one every 4 people will have an elder. Because low birth rate, 2012, per 1000 the number of dependent elderly people 171, for first time exceeded the number of children 164. In 1991, raising 125 per 1000 elderly people, last year has risen to 163 per 1000 people raise an old man so we expect aging population will be more serious.

Aging population will increase the burden on society?
Yes, increasing elderly population, social burden will increase. Community of retirees and young overpopulation to provide labor force is sufficient to meet the population’s consumption, such as pursuing a large welfare state; the state will be vulnerable to financial loss, the aging population into the social burden. Aging population will also put immense pressure on public finances. On the revenue side, as a result of population decline, the income tax base will become increasingly narrow. At the same time, various types of the elderly is closely related to expenses such as medical, long-term care and social security, the substantial in crease as the population ages.

Is aging population a problem or phenomenon?
Nowadays,Population aging is problem but aging a problem is phenomenon in future. In future, aging population will become more serious therefore aging population will become a phenomenon.

Do you have any suggestion to solve the problem?
Yes,Firstly, government ought to encourage to give birth increased allowances to increase the economic incentive. At the same time, extension of maternity leave and monetary incentives. Secondly, government needs to be prepared to provide better health and medical services, welfare and more recreational activities to cater to the aging population. Thirdly, government should not set a mandatory retirement age and Government ought to extend working age. It increases the statutory retirement age, raise productivity and income while receiving retirement benefits will be years of delay, pushing the policy after the country’s spending on welfare.

The ageing of the population is typical for developed communities. Check other developed countries, for instance, Belgium https://populationstat.com/belgium/. You see, the median age is increasing and it's true for other countries. People reconceptualize their priorities and that's why they prefer to have children in later years.
